Fifty individuals believed to be involved in the recent disturbances in Nkwanta were apprehended during an operation in Shiare, situated in the Oti Region, on the morning of Tuesday, January 21.
These individuals are set to undergo screening before any legal actions commence.
The National Security Coordinator, DCOP Osman Abdul Razak, visited Nkwanta to assess the situation and engage with traditional leaders from the involved factions to foster peace.
In a recent update, Oti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alex Acquah, reported the grave repercussions of the renewed conflict, which has led to six deaths, ten injuries, and the destruction of twelve homes along with a shop.
In a broader context, DCOP Osman Abdul Razak expressed concerns about the ongoing chieftaincy and land disputes across the country. He underscored the need for enhanced collaboration among security agencies to effectively address these challenges.
