Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and President John Dramani Mahama are celebrating the first Akwasidae celebration of the year alongside Dr. Samuel Sarpong, a well-known Ghanaian politician and former Ashanti Regional Minister.
The Ashanti people celebrate this important cultural occasion to pay tribute to their heritage and ancestors. A magnificent celebration that highlights the Ashanti people’s rich cultural traditions is the Akwasidae festival.
The 16th Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has played a significant role in promoting and conserving the Ashanti kingdom’s cultural legacy.
The importance of Ghana’s cultural heritage and the need to preserve it for future generations are highlighted by President Mahama’s attendance at the festival, along with that of Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman, Chairman Nana Kwasi (Ashanti Regional Chairman), Dr. Frank Amoakohene (Ashanti Regional Minister-designate), and Mr. Akwasi Ofori Agyemang Boadi (former Obuasi MCE), among others.
Strong cultural ties between the Ashanti people and their leaders are demonstrated by the celebration.
