President John Mahama claims that his inauguration marks the beginning of a new era with enormous potential to influence Ghana’s governance and economic management.

In his inauguration address on Tuesday, January 7, President Mahama promised Ghanaians that his administration is committed to making a fresh start and resolving the nation’s ongoing economic issues.

“A nation most needs leadership that is determined to take bold action when things get tough,” he said, underscoring the importance of strong leadership amid crises.

President Mahama said he aspires to be that leader with the help and cooperation of the Ghanaians. The president pledged to act quickly and with sound judgement in the nation’s best interests.

“I will have the humility and presence of mind to take responsibility for any challenges and be willing to act firmly and timeously to resolve the challenges that we face as a nation,” he stated.

Ghana’s dire economic circumstances were acknowledged by President Mahama, who promised to confront the problems head-on and persistently.

In order for Ghana to once again be a hub for commerce and entrepreneurship, he provided an outline of his administration’s goals to restore economic stability and establish a flourishing business and investment environment.

The president also underlined the need of constitutional reforms and governance in strengthening national institutions.

He reiterated his commitment to maintaining accountability and intensifying the battle against corruption, and he pledged to make transparency a cornerstone of his administration.
