The wife of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, paid Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III a courtesy call.
According to Mrs. Mahama, the visit was made to inform the royal family of her plans to campaign in Asanteman and to request their approval for her husband, John Mahama.
“As we all know, my husband, your son, John Mahama, is contesting for the presidency in December.”
“I always feel at home every time I visit Manhyia, as Asantehemaa has been like a mother to me,” She emphasized the significance of obtaining the royal family’s blessings prior to interacting with Ashanti Region stakeholders.
Answering Mrs. Mahama’s remarks, Nana Asantehemaa prayed for God’s guidance in the next elections and conveyed gratitude for the visit.
Despite the competitive nature of the electoral process, she acknowledged her optimism that Ghana will select the best leader.
Mrs. Mahama met with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in private after her meeting with the Asantehemaa to obtain his blessings and approval before starting her campaign.
Alongside the former First Lady were NDC Regional Chairman Nana Akwasi Andrews, Justice Minister Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Attorney General and Deputy Director of Communications Obuobia Darko-Opoku, former Deputy Defence Minister Kenneth Adjei, Ashanti region parliamentary candidates and members of the regional women’s wing.
