The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation ( MoCD ), led by Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP), is the driving force behind the Girls-In-ICT initiative, a flagship program designed to empower girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ( STEM ) fields and close the gender digital divide.
According to MoCD Minister, the initiative is part of Ghana’s broader strategy to promote gender equality and increase women’s participation in technology sectors.
She explained that the Girls in ICT Trust aims to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry by providing resources, training, and support, thus fostering digital literacy and creating career opportunities for girls in ICT.
Last Tuesday was the culmination of a successful phase that trained and involved 1,000 girls in the Ashanti Regional edition.
